Meredith Morten is a sculptor living in Boston Massachusetts. Her work includes installations, performance and ceramic sculpture.
An interest in prehistoric archaeology of Central Europe has led Meredith to projects and exhibitions in Hungary (2016, 2012, 2011, 2009, 2007), Austria (2016), Macedonia (2000, 2003,1996) and Croatia (1999). Awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 2009 and a second Fulbright in 2016 she traveled to Hungary and Austria to create work inspired by regional artifacts representative of the Cooper, Bronze and Iron Ages. A 2011 CEC Artslink Projects grant supported an exhibition of her work at the Gorka Géza Ceramics Museum in Veröce Hungary.
Meredith taught in the sculpture and foundation departments at Montserrat from 1993 to 2017 and for nine years served as Chair of the sculpture department. She has presented lectures nationally and internationally. Other teaching included adjunct assignments at Massachusetts College of Art and Framingham State College, and a faculty position at The Middlesex School in Concord MA (1975-80). Between 1987 and 1996 Meredith created sculptural sets for Paula Josa-Jones/Performance Works for dance works that premiered at Jacob’s Pillow (Becket MA), The Joyce Theatre (NYC) and Dia Art Foundation (NYC). She received degrees from Massachusetts College of Art (MFA) and Connecticut College (BA).
